Day-by-day program
Day 1 — Gorkhi–Terelj National Park: granite giants and alpine valleys
After breakfast, you drive to Gorkhi–Terelj National Park, part of the larger Khan Khentii protected region. Terelj is loved for its huge granite blocks and cliffs, soft meadows rich with wildflowers, and a landscape that often feels like an alpine valley — only with Mongolia’s wide-open sky overhead.
You’ll explore some of the park’s most famous rock formations, including Turtle Rock (Melkhii Khad) and the photogenic Praying Lama Rock (also known as the “Old Man Reading a Book”). A gentle hike brings you to a small meditation temple on a hilltop, rewarded with panoramic views of the valley. Later, enjoy horseback riding — the most timeless way to experience Mongolia’s countryside.
