Day-by-day program


Day 1 — Khogno Khan: Mongolia's unique natural crossroads

Leave Ulaanbaatar and head west into the scenic landscapes of Khogno Khan Natural Reserve, where granite mountains, forests, grasslands, and sand dunes come together in one remarkable location. Explore the area on foot and enjoy your first introduction to Mongolia's vast open countryside before spending the evening with a local nomadic family.

Day 2 — Camel riding & Karakorum

Begin the day with a memorable camel ride across the sand dunes of Khogno Khan before continuing to Karakorum, the legendary capital of the Mongol Empire. Visit the magnificent Erdene Zuu Monastery, Mongolia's oldest surviving Buddhist monastery, and learn about the fascinating history of Genghis Khan's empire and Mongolia's Buddhist heritage.

Day 3 — Ugii Lake

Travel to the peaceful shores of Ugii Lake, one of Central Mongolia's most beautiful freshwater lakes. Known for its rich birdlife and tranquil setting, the lake provides a welcome opportunity to slow down and enjoy Mongolia's natural beauty. Spend the afternoon walking along the shoreline or simply relaxing in the peaceful surroundings.

Day 4 — Through the Mongolian steppe

Begin the return journey towards Ulaanbaatar, travelling through the endless grasslands that define Central Mongolia. Along the way there will be opportunities to stop for photographs, enjoy short walks, and experience the peaceful rhythm of life on the steppe before your final evening in the countryside.

Day 5 — Return to Ulaanbaatar

After breakfast, complete the drive back to Ulaanbaatar. Although your journey has been short, you'll leave with lasting memories of Mongolia's spectacular landscapes, rich history, and warm nomadic hospitality.
